KORMA SPICES (35G)

This is Korma, yes — but not that Korma. Not the syrupy beige lullaby served to people frightened of flavour. This is its older, silk-lined, better travelled cousin from Hyderabad. The one with stories. The one that arrives late and doesn’t apologise.

Coconut milk instead of cream, warming spices instead of lighter spices, not just for the sake of it, but because it works. It really works. And spices that know how to speak up without causing a scene — turmeric that whispers with intent, black pepper that pricks just enough to keep you interested, cardamom and many more. It’s rich, but with poise. No clag. No sugar rush.

It began in the gilded palaces of the Niwabs, eaten off silver under chandeliers whilst sat on too many cushions. And now — improbably — it’s here, inside a sachet, in your press next to a tin of beans. Life's funny like that.

It won Gold at Blas na hÉireann, which is exactly the sort of thing it would do — elegant, under the radar, quietly showing off.

There’s a QR code on the back leading to a recipe, like something out of a spy novel. You don’t need a culinary degree. You don’t even need to concentrate all that hard. It asks for very little and gives a great deal in return.

Certified Coeliac and Vegan friendly and surprisingly charming, although it doesn’t make a song and dance about it. This Korma has better things to do.
