  • Arun’s authentic Indian family recipe combining only Mango, cider vinegar, sugar, dates, ginger, turmeric and our Garam Masala blend.
  • A totally modern fruity flavour for vibrant Indian dishes, our ‘chatni’ can be used as an accompaniment like a chutney, in wraps, sandwiches, as a marinade, a gratin addition, cooked into a curry adding a subtle fruity edge, mixed with mayonnaise for a fruity sandwich filling, or simply served with poppadoms, chips or wedges. ABOUT ARUN

We’re an Irish company, disruptive spice traders with a burgeoning brand. From humble beginnings, we’ve emerged from our Irish Farmer’s Market stalls to become a collaborative force combining a global network of strategic partners, meaningful players in the agri-food business.

“Green Saffron is an award-winning family business started by Arun and Olive Kapil back in 2006, Midleton, Co Cork, Ireland. We began life at Mahon Point Farmers Market, Cork, selling two or three sachets of spice blends a week. Our spice blends and sauces are totally natural, certified gluten free and use only the best, freshest spices sourced direct from family farms in India. With names you’ll recognize, each has a simple-to-follow recipe to guarantee you a delicious Indian meal with the minimum of fuss.”

Arun is a ‘Spice Guru’ and a cook. His intimate knowledge of spices and spicing gives his food a joyous modern edge. Honing his skills at Ballymaloe, Ireland and kitchens in London, Arun’s cooking as with his presenting has an easy uncomplicated style. Settling in Ireland’s food capital, Co Cork in 2004, Arun set-up his highly regarded and award- winning spice company Green Saffron in 2007. Green Saffron sources sustainable, fresh spices direct from family farms in India. Arun produces highly innovative, unique and exceptional blends for cuisines of all styles used by top chefs the world over.

Rice wording food service

Our rice is truly like no other basmati. So many grains, so many varieties, we have honed our skills over 5 generations to find the best grains, grown with the greatest care ready for your plate. Rejecting many batches, only the very best will do. Sweetness, length of grain and overall fluffiness – how we measure yield – all three must be in perfect harmony to make it into a Green Saffron bag. Once tried, you will truly notice the delicious difference.

Vintage Pure Basmati

Ours is the 1121 varietal – known throughout India as the best but seldom exported. Grown in the Taraori region, it has a super long grain, wonderful taste, texture and aroma. This is one for the connoisseur and the ultimate basmati. Three to one yield.

Brown Basmati Rice

Grown in the Taraori region in India, this brown rice has a beautiful nutty flavour, long grain and delicate texture. A fantastic, flavoursome alternative to the more commonly found brown rice.

Premium Basmati

Also grown in the Taraori region in India. Longer grain than usual and loads of flavour. It’s not our vintage pure but is still comfortably ahead of basmati typically found over here.

Long Grain ‘Sella’ Rice

This one’s grown in the Haryana region of India. A wonderful long grain rice with great
flavour and texture.
