How to Prepare this Red Lentil Dahl
1 Soak lentils for 10 mins
2 Heat ghee or butter in large saucepan (medium heat) and
sweat onions, garlic, chilli and ginger together
3 Next this pack - fry for 3 mins
4 Add tomatoes, sugar & coconut milk. Simmer & stir for 10 mins
5 Rinse lentils & add to pot. Simmer, adding stock bit by bit.
Occasionally stir to prevent sticking.
Cook on medium heat for 15 to 20 mins.
6 Stir in lime, sprinkle with coriander & serve… simple!
Serving suggestion:
Serve with mounds of Indian Basmati rice and riata or Indian breads.
Remember:
This recipe has been tried and tested by the Green Saffron Masaalchi and is pretty much guaranteed, but if you want to change the quantities of a couple of ingredients go for it….experiment and enjoy your cooking. With Green Saffron spices you can’t go wrong!
Note:
Ghee is an Indian butter. You can simply use butter or vegetable oil instead.
